March 23, 2018 : New FLCL Premiere Dates Announced (And They Are Right Around The Corner)
Premiere dates for the two new FLCL seasons were recently announced. The 12 new episodes will be broken up into two 6-episode seasons.
The first season, FLCL: Progressive, will premiere June 2nd – while the following season, FLCL: Alternative, will air in September. The episodes will air in Japan and America concurrently (ala Space Dandy).
I have tried to avoid trailers or spoilers of any kind, but I did find out that the two seasons won’t have much in common. They will follow different characters and even had different crews working them (except for the high level positions like Chief Director and Script Writer).
To be honest, I’m not sure how I feel about the different cast and crew for the two seasons. I was hoping for a unifying story. Yet again, FLCL tends to dance to the beat of a different drum. Either way, I’ll still watch whatever they make with bated breath.
One thing I do know: The Pillows are involved throughout; and for that, I’m stoked no matter what. Do you like Foo-Ree Coo-Ree?

August 27, 2017 : New FLCL Teaser Trailer
A few weeks back, a teaser came out for the new seasons of FLCL. It isn’t long, and much like the original show, it is fast paced and tough to decipher on first watch; but it was still great:
The best part of the teaser for me? Without a doubt hearing The Pillows.
The 12-episode revival will get split into two six episode seasons – the first debuting next year (although not sure when in 2018). Below is Adult Swim’s earlier release describing what to expect:
Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.
But why did Haruko return to Earth?
What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota?
And where did the human-type robot ‘Canti’ go?
I can’t think of an anime I’m more stoked is coming back with new episodes. Bebop is my favorite anime, but they need to leave well enough alone with that series – it ended masterfully. With FLCL, the door was left open for more. Who thought it would take nearly two decades to finally do something about it?

April 1, 2016 : New FLCL – On Adult Swim
I want to preface this by saying this is not an April Fool’s joke – at least it better not be. New episodes of FLCL are going to be made! Adult Swim will co-produce 12 new episodes with Production I.G., under the supervision of series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki.
The new episodes will serve as a sequel to the original series, divided up into two, six episode seasons – which is said to premiere in late 2017 or early 2018. Below is the release summary  for these episodes:
In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together.
To make things even cooler, Toonami’s creative director Jason DeMarco states the original voice cast will be involved as well as The Pillows! Do you like Furry Curry! I know I do.

July 10, 2012 : Anime Back In Full Force
With Toonami’s recent return to Adult Swim, enjoyable anime is once again on TV. Deadman Wonderland has been impressive (although Cashern is still subpar). The concept is original, and it has moved at a very brisk pace. It’s unlikely Bleach will ever return to its prime, so hopefully Toonami will continue to pick up solid new anime. One show I’m hoping they get the rights to is Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt. The official trailer is below.
It’s obviously bizarre – yet again, that shouldn’t be too surprising since it’s by the creators of FLCL. The director of Garterbelt was also heavily involved in that show. The only drawback I can think about the series is that there isn’t any music from The Pillows.

December 7, 2009 : Flee Clee!!!
Here’s a cool independent anime short from Japan. Unfortunately, it is in Japanese and doesn’t have any subtitles, but it’s still impressive.
According to one of the comments, the dialogue is:
Please be my steady, Takashi.
Sorry, I’d like to concentrate on baseball club.
You bastard! (She begins to run)
I will make miso-soup for you every morning.
Sorry, I’d like to …
It’s design and animation has a cool FLCL feel to it. Plus, it also uses a song from the series – “Comedian’s Gallop” by Dmitri Kabalevsky.
Personally, I don’t know how anybody could pass on an offer for daily Miso Soups… but that’s just me.
